Plus Size Tunic Blouses best outfits

Tunics have come of age in the past couple of years, particularly those made in plus sizes for the larger sized woman. While there’s no guaranteeing that every plus size tunic will look good on you, if you choose sensibly, you will usually find that there is something on the shelves that will flatter your figure.

Plus Size Tunic Blouses,

Strictly speaking (if you believe the dictionary) tunics are knee-length loose fitting items of clothing. But designers have done their bit to alter this definition, by creating tunics that, whilst loose fitting, are not necessarily knee length. Furthermore, the original inference of the word tunic was something rather plain. Even 50 years ago, when tunics were worn by school children to play various sports, these tops were, in a word, plain. They usually had either round or square necklines, and were cut without any imagination at all. The idea was that they would allow girls to move easily while wearing them.

Manufacturers have also redefined their own definition of tunics and plus size tunic blouses. Generally most people who remember the original tunics of the 20th century will know that they were always in one piece – they didn’t ever incorporate buttons or other fasteners like some of the more contemporary tunic blouses on the market do today. In fact when you look at what some clothing houses offer in terms of tunics, there is really no difference between long blouses and tunics. You might just as well call them tunic blouses, which is what a lot of people (including manufacturers) do.

Some of the most popular plus size tunic tops on the market today have a kind of bohemian or peasant look. They aren’t really like the hippy style of the 1970s, but rather more sophisticated and pretty. They are often encrusted with jewels of some sort, including coins and sequins, adding a kind of artistry to the design.

If you’re old enough to remember the original “flower children” who first defined the hippy genre, you will know that peasant tunic-type tops were very popular. You will also know that spriggy (flowery) fabrics were the rage. It’s funny how these have all come back into fashion. But there is also an emergence of some rather outrageous prints that don’t really fit the bill. If you like them, then wear them, but be careful because plus size blouses in very large prints can make you look even bigger than you are. Now there’s a thought.

There was also a kind of gypsy genre that emerged during the 60s and 70s, but today the tunic is a lot more stylish. There’s more shape to most designs, rather than tented shapes that were intended to hide a multiple of sins (in terms of curves and fat). Instead designers today encourage larger ladies to accept the shape that they are and to embrace it. While the intention is to wear flattering tunic blouses, there are ways to make it work.

Some of the Indian tunic tops available today will suit all kinds of women, who have lots of different tastes. There are also a lot of other so-called “ethnic” tunic blouses that have emerged from the East, many of which are beautifully embroidered or otherwise embellished. Unlike the peasant and gypsy styles based on 1960 and 1970 type tunic, these are a lot more contemporary and funky.

At the end of the day it doesn’t matter what shape or size you are, there are skirts, pants and plus size blouses that you can find that will suit you. Just go out there and find something YOU like.
