Plus size tops

In general, plus size clothing caters for the larger person who basically needs extra large or oversize clothing sizes. This applies to all types of clothing, from skirts and pants to plus size blouses and extra large tunic blouses.

Plus size tops,

Previously larger women would be forced to make their own clothes, or have them made by a professional dressmaker. But today there really is an enormous choice, particularly when it comes to tops, blouses and tunics. Furthermore you can find a wide range of types and styles of tops to suit your needs, for both casual day and elegant night wear. You will find plain tops, patterned tops, tops in a wide variety of colors. Some have round necks, while others have V-necks. Some have collars and others don’t, some have frills and ruffles. Some women’s blouses have feminine necklines while others are designed to hide the neckline. Just keep looking until you find exactly what appeals to you, and what will enhance your figure.

Gone are the days when the only large blouses for women looked more like over sized tents that were created in an endeavor to hide curves and bumps. You don’t need to hide your curves, but rather wear clothing that has been cleverly designed so that it flatters what you have got.

There is a huge market for plus size tops and many manufacturers dedicate ranges to plus sizes. These manufacturers are sensitive to the needs of the women who buy their clothing, and so they create stylish and fashionable items ranging from plain slip-on tunic tops to button-down blouses for women. Whatever basic style is available for thin women is usually adapted by the manufacturer for the larger figure.

If you are thin or fit regular sizes, you will easily find tunic blouses or any other types of blouses for women. But if you wear anything larger than a size 14 (in the United States) or a 16 (in the United Kingdom) you may need what is commonly referred to as a plus size.

Generally, any clothing that is described as bigger than regular clothing, qualifies as a “plus size”. Generally those stores that specialize in clothing for the larger woman will stock items from a size 14 (or 16) to 48. But it isn’t always as simple as this since different manufacturers adapt measurements to fit their own ranges. So, for example, you might find that a size 14 is too tight fitting, while a 14W will be cut so that it does fit a plumper figure. The W factor (wide) is a popular one used by manufacturers of plus sized clothing.

However many manufacturers prefer to use the X factor calling their clothing extra large (X) or extra-extra large (XX) or even extra-extra-extra large (XXX) and sometimes even bigger. While you can generally assume that extra large women’s blouses are more or less the same as a size 14W, this is not always the case. Of course if you are able to try the garments on then you will immediately see whether a plus size tunic or any other plus size top fits you. From experience I can tell you that if you are buying via mail order or from a virtual Internet store, then you should check the catalog carefully to see how sizing applies to your own measurements.
