Swimsuit
A traditional swimsuit is a one-piece that covers both top and bottom, usually strappy on the top half and finishing like a pair of briefs on the bottom half. Also referred to as a swimming costume or bathing costume, swimsuits are the most popular type of swimwear for swimming.
Swimdress
A swimdress is a more feminine version of the one-piece swimsuit, with an over-skirt that gives it a more girly look. The skirt gives a little more coverage over the stomach, bottom and thighs, making the swimdress a very flattering style of bathing costume.
Bikini
A bikini is a two-piece swimming costume consisting of a bikini top and matching bikini bottoms. The bikini top resembles a bra made of swimsuit fabric. As a bikini shows off more of your body than most swimsuits it’s a very popular swimsuit style for sunbathing at the beach.
Tankini
A tankini top is similar to a bikini except that it comes down lower to meet the tankini bottoms, covering the stomach and lower back. It gives a more fashionable look than a one-piece swimsuit yet provides more coverage than a bikini, making plus size tankinis very popular.
Strappy
Most types of swimsuit, be it a classic one-piece costume, swimdress, tankini or bikini have thin straps similar to those on a bra or camisole. In more sporty looking swimsuits the straps sometimes crossover at the back.
Halterneck
A halterneck bathing costume has straps that fasten behind the neck instead of going down the back. It’s a very sexy swimwear style that creates great cleavage and allows you to adjust the level of support.
Bandeau
A bandeau swimsuit is the same as a strapless style, although it may come with removable straps. Swimdresses, bikinis, swimsuits and tankinis are all available in bandeau styles – the perfect swimsuit style for tanning your shoulders.
Briefs
Bikini briefs are the classic bikini bottoms and may be cut higher or lower on the leg depending on the style. Like all of these types of swim bottoms you can wear them with a bikini or a tankini top.
Shorts
Bikini or tankini shorts are a fashionable type of swimwear bottoms that come down lower on the leg. They’re ideal if you’re looking for a little more coverage.
Swimskirt
A swimskirt gives yet more coverage and a feminine look. Also known as a skort, it consists of a traditional bikini bottom with a skirt over the top.
