You may be amazed to discover just how many types of plus size silk blouses there are on the market. Not only are they made from different types of silk, but the variety of styles and colors is quite extraordinary. Prices also vary so you are sure to find something to suit both your taste and pocket.

Plus size satin blouses,

I spent a while searching the Internet for styles that appealed to me. If you have the time, why not do the same. Even if you end up buying something completely different, photographs of featured plus size blouses will give you a good idea of what they look like on really big size people.

I found pleated silk plus size blouses made of a silk and spandex blend that had a pretty sparkle. Then there were buttoned, three quarter sleeve silk blouses with just a hint of spandex, that are perfect for any formal occasion.

I also found silk crepe de chine blouses in classic styles and in all the essential colors. Another lovely crepe de chine style I found had billowy sleeves and intriguing shell buttons.

Then there were silk knot tops with gorgeous ruched knots in front and deep V-necklines. I found some glorious silk georgette blouses in fashionable floral prints. The nicest had a low bow-tied neck with buttons down the front, while there were also some pretty crinkled silk georgette wrap-around designs.

A popular silk blouse design that is relatively close-fitting but very elegant for all sizes and shapes of woman, is made from floral print silk charmeuse that is perfect for smart business occasions and for evening wear as well.

Some well known designers favor silk as a material for their creations. One gorgeous design I spotted was a Ralph Lauren silk wrap-shirt, perfect for plus size ladies that had lovely puffy sleeves and a straight pointed collar. It was bright shocking sugar plum pink and made from a luxurious silk dupioni. Unfortunately the largest size they make is extra large, and not the bigger plus sizes. Another Ralph Lauren design I found was made from a pale grey low-luster silk satin and it featured a stunning ruffled collar, large enough to take the emphasis off large hips. This though was also only available up to size 14 (which is more or less an extra large plus size).

Some of the most practical plus size blouses made of silk seem to be those designed as tunics or as big sized T-shirts – only smarter because of the silk material. One tunic top design that caught my eye was called a kurta, fashioned on ethnic designs from the East, particularly Pakistan and India. Even though some manufacturers produce what they call tunic tops with buttoned fronts, the kurtas I found were more like traditional tunics which don’t have any buttons at all. They also feature some lovely embroidery and bead work that gives them an appeal of their own. Some also had sequins sewn on them, but these are really only suitable for evening wear.

Another really attractive design features a cowl neck, balloon sleeves and is made from silk charmeuse. This is another type of plus size silk blouse that works with both pants and skirts and can easily be worn during the day or in the evening. It is actually one of the nicest plus size blouses I have seen in a long time. Another was a bright pink silk shirt with three quarter sleeves, a V-neck and a longer hemline, almost like a short dress. Available from large to 3X, this is perfect for discernible larger sized ladies.
