Many women who wear extra large clothing prefer to wear skirts with tops rather than single piece dresses. The reason for this is that it is a lot easier to find separate items that fit difficult body measurements.

I have to agree that this is a good approach, because my upper half dress size and bottom half simply don’t match. I have a relatively small bust size and a relatively large hip size. This means that while I can’t always squeeze into a size 16 dress, I can easily wear a size 16W skirt together with a size 14 formal or casual blouse.
Wearing a skirt and top is in fact often advantageous when it comes to plus size formal clothing. This is because it is easy to mix and match, for example teaming plain styled skirts with different blouses to create a completely different look – whether this is formal or casual.
